The beauty of different cultures

For almost a year now the news has been filled with articles about refugees that take the risky decision to cross the Mediterranean Sea to go to Europe. A dangerous decision for which they were willing to risk their lives!

For many, cultures are a main reason to travel. Go out to discover, feel and experience a new or already known environment. Isn’t that what we want and the reason we are traveling? To learn from each other? To fall in love with what is unknown to us?

The beauty of different cultures

For almost a year now the news has been filled with articles about refugees that take the risky decision to cross the Mediterranean Sea to go to Europe. A dangerous decision for which they were willing to risk their lives! As soon as they reach the European coast, a lot of people tend to forget what these people have gone through. Nobody chooses to leave their homes, family and everything they have voluntarily. It had become too dangerous to stay and they had no choice.

It seems that during these moments, we forget that we didn’t choose the place or country in which we were born. Therefore, we make life changing decisions in order to be safe and happy. Isn’t that what we all want in life?

'We often tend to forget how much we can learn from other people’s cultures and beliefs'

Cultures are beautiful, as they are not created overnight but have grown and been formed over generations. It is a proof that their way of living is sustainable and valuable. It is a process that continues to evolve and doesn’t stop. It’s part of life.

For many, cultures are a main reason to travel in the first place. They go out because they want to discover, feel and experience a new or already known environment. Then why are people frightened when these refugees are crossing the Mediterranean Sea? Isn’t that what we want and the reason we are traveling? To learn from each other? To fall in love with what is unknown to us?

BLOG: BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES

Harmony with natureWhen we visited Ecuador for the first time, it was a real eye opening and life changing experience. Ever since we were little we learned that ‘developing countries’ need support and their way of living needs to be improved. It is not that our way of life is better, it is just different and needs some adjustment to fit in. As westerners, we are not used to live in the jungle. We travel with insect repellent and mosquito nets to avoid being bitten by insects. We are scared of everything that crawls around us and what is unknown to us, while the natives are not frightened at all. Then you could think ‘what is wrong with these people?’ or ‘what is wrong with me?’. They live in harmony with everything mother earth has given to them because they have been doing so for many generations. They respect the insects, and do not try to kill them all day long because they know that these insects belong to the circle of life as well. Who are we to tell them they have to change their way of life while others are destroying the planet to fulfill their needs?

BLOG: WHY FAIR TRADE CERTIFICATION (STILL) EXIST?

Without our needs to travel, discover, explore and learn from the world and its cultures Enamora might not have been here today. It doesn’t matter that we live in a different place than our artisans. We enjoy working with them, our mutual respect, and to learn, love and help. Isn’t that what’s most important? Let’s learn from others and give others the opportunity to follow their heart and to be themselves. Let’s support their initiatives and give them a chance. It doesn’t matter where a person is born, everyone has the right to show that he or she is a good person making the right decisions. Everyone is born with a heart, which tends to be a compass pointing to the right direction. It’s the art to listen to this compass and signals and decide what is good for you. Learn to trust others and to give them an opportunity. Their race, religion, culture or sexuality doesn’t matter. These are only things we can learn from to get the best out of ourselves.

My heart has sent me to Ecuador and to the beautiful people that live there. My compass keeps sending me back. I will keep trying to help these people and learn from them until the compass will change direction. I’m so happy and proud I can bring their beautiful treasures to you and send your love and respect back to them. I hope it gives you a positive feeling too! That is real beauty; to love, learn and respect others.

Let’s move freely and live where we feel at home!

Stop judging and start loving! Just try it, it feels great!
